Manchester United and Leeds United are both in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer.
Ruben Amorim has seen both Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir struggle at Old Trafford, whereas Daniel Farke had to drop Illan Meslier for Karl Darlow towards the end of last season, as the Frenchman looked set to cost the Whites a spot in the Premier League with his frequent errors.
Both Manchester United and Leeds United are keeping a close eye on Senne Lammens in this hunt for a new goalkeeper – although the Belgian has already strongly suggested he would prefer a move to Old Trafford.
What Senne Lammens has already said about Manchester United amidst Leeds United interest
It was Gazet van Antwerpen who revealed that Manchester United have “thoroughly explored” a move for the Royal Antwerp No.91 this summer – while Leeds United, who are working to sign Gonzalo Garcia, could also bid.
However, when asked about interest from Manchester United back in February during an interview with Gazet van Antwerpen, Lammens seemed quite excited.
The 23-year-old said: “The first time I heard (about Manchester United interest) I thought, wow. Immediately a world (renowned) team that follows you. That is special.
“Of course, I was also spoken to about it a lot and when I made a save in training, it was United this, United that (from colleagues)… it’s only positive. Especially because it’s the best competition in the world and my profile – my stature and way of playing – is similar to English football. You have to physically hold your own there and that suits me.”
Lammens was then asked if he would consider leaving Royal Antwerp, and he opened the door to an exit by admitting: “If something comes along that I can hardly say no to and will (also) benefit the club, I’ll have to think about it seriously, but if I’m the first (choice) keeper here for another year, that’s no problem.
The Belgium U21 international made 44 appearances across all competitions for Royal Antwerp last season, keeping ten clean sheets.
Royal Antwerp have a fairly low asking price for Senne Lammens
Gazet van Antwerpen add that Royal Antwerp are only looking to make €20m (£17m) from the sale of Lammens this summer – who has just under two years remaining on his contract.
That is a pretty affordable sum for any club in the Premier League, and with the man born in Zottegem clearly excited by a possible move to Old Trafford, Manchester United might not have any issues when it comes to agreeing personal terms either.
