Man United have registered their interest in signing Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Everton are also keen on the 27-year-old, who has four years remaining on his current contract but could leave Italy with a return to the Premier League a possibility.
However, David Moyes’ side would prefer to sign the Brazil international on loan rather than committing to a permanent deal given the finances involved.
Juventus are keen to offload Luiz this summer and are considering their options, but would prefer to accept permanent offers rather than letting him leave on a short-term basis.
Man United are willing to negotiate a loan-to-buy deal with the Italian club, placing them firmly ahead of Everton in the race to reach an agreement.

Leeds, Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest in race to sign Douglas Luiz
Since his move to Juventus from Aston Villa last summer, Luiz has started just six games and played just 877 minutes across all competitions.
As a result, the Brazilian’s agent has been attempting to drum up interest in a move, with the likes of Leeds, Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest all linked in recent weeks.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider in March that Nottingham Forest are keen to sign Luiz after keeping tabs on his progress.
However, United are now believed to be the front-runners for his signature as Ruben Amorim is keen to bolster his midfield options in the transfer market.
This comes after Football Insider revealed on 13 July that both United and Everton want to sign Wilfred Ndidi from Leicester thanks to his £9million release clause.

Christopher Nkunku, Bryan Mbeumo: Old Trafford transfer news
Amorim is putting plans in place to strengthen his squad after a difficult first season at Old Trafford, and Luiz and Ndidi are not the only names on his shortlist.
Brown told Football Insider on 11 July that Man United are still keen on Christopher Nkunku, who is widely expected to leave Chelsea before the new season begins.
However, the deal may depend on whether Amorim’s side can complete a deal for Bryan Mbeumo amid question marks about Nkunku’s position.
Brown told Football Insider on 1 July that Man United are close to signing Mbeumo and remain in behind-the-scenes talks with Brentford about a final fee.
