When news broke about Bayern Munich’s proposal to Liverpool FC for Luis Diaz being rejected, it initially read as one of those stages of the transfer process.
What if, though, Liverpool has no intention of selling the winger? That is what Sky Sport journalist Lyall Thomas is reporting (via @iMiaSanMia):
Liverpool had told Bayern on July 2 that Luis Diaz was not for sale. Nevertheless, Bayern believe the Colombian is keen to join them, hence they returned with a first official bid. Liverpool’s position on Díaz has not changed. It remains to be seen whether Bayern will return with another offer.
David Ornstein of The Athletic (via @iMiaSanMia) added more context as well:
Even though he told them he wants to leave, Liverpool view Díaz as an important part of their plans for next season and beyond — which has been made clear to Bayern, Barcelona and other interested parties.
Is this just posturing from Liverpool or is the English club truly unwilling to part ways with Diaz? We should find out soon (hopefully).
