£17m Leeds United 'target' has already made transfer preference clear amid Man United link

Senne Lammens is the latest goalkeeper to be linked with a move to Leeds United. Reports in Belgium claim the Whites, Sunderland and Manchester United are big admirers of the Royal Antwerp shot-stopper.

The 23-year-old made 44 appearances across all competitions for the Belgium club last season, keeping 10 clean sheets. Yet despite Lammens' fine performances in between the sticks, Antwerp sporting director Marc Overmars has made it clear the player is available for transfer this summer following the arrival of Taishi Brandon Nozawa. It has been claimed Antwerp want £17m for Lammens, who still has two years left to run on his contract.

Given Andre Onana's erratic performances, the Red Devils are expected to dip into the market to sign a new goalkeeper. When asked about the Red Devils' rumoured interest in his services back in February during an interview with Gazet van Antwerpen, Lammens said: “The first time I heard (about Manchester United interest) I thought, wow. Immediately a world (renowned) team that follows you. That is special.

“Of course, I was also spoken to about it a lot and when I made a save in training, it was United this, United that (from colleagues)… it’s only positive. Especially because it’s the best competition in the world and my profile – my stature and way of playing – is similar to English football. You have to physically hold your own there and that suits me.”

On the prospect of leaving Royal Antwerp, Lammens said: “If something comes along that I can hardly say no to and will (also) benefit the club, I’ll have to think about it seriously, but if I’m the first (choice) keeper here for another year, that’s no problem."

Leeds, meanwhile, currently have three senior goalkeepers on their books in Illan Meslier, Karl Darlow and Alex Cairns. Darlow finished the 2024/25 season as their No 1 shot-stopper after a series of high-profile blunders from Meslier.
