Alexander Isak is attracting strong interest from Liverpool this summer, with the Reds eyeing a new striker amid growing expectation that Darwin Nunez will leave.
AC Milan, Napoli, and Saudi Pro League clubs are all interested in signing Nunez has scored 25 goals and recorded 16 assists in 95 Premier League appearances since moving to Anfield from Benfica in the summer of 2022.
Al Hilal are ready to switch attention to Nunez if their move to land Victor Osimhen fails this summer, with new boss Simeone Inzaghi said to have pushed his club to move for the Uruguay international.
The Premier League champions are reportedly willing to accept a loss on their striker to allow him to leave for £70m – after signing him for £85m.
Nunez scored in Liverpool’s return to pre-season action against Preston over the weekend as he capitalised on an error from the opposition backline before firing past the goalkeeper as Arne Slot’s team recorded a 3-1 win.
With his exit almost certain, Liverpool have been linked with a move for Isak and Hugo Ekitike.
Isak joined Newcastle United in August 2022 for a club record £63million and has scored 62 goals in 109 appearances across all competitions.
Last season, he netted 23 times in the Premier League last term as Newcastle secured Champions League qualification.
The Sweden international scored the winner against the Reds in the League Cup final at Wembley last season to earn his club their first domestic honour in 70 years.
According to The Times, Newcastle are bracing themselves for an official offer from Liverpool for Isak that could be in the region of £130m.
It is believed that the agent of Isak met with Eddie Howe at the club’s training ground earlier this month.
Isak is currently training with Newcastle in their Austrian pre-season camp.
