Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak has already addressed his future amid interest from Liverpool.

Alexander Isak admitted to feeling “incredibly comfortable” at Newcastle United when quizzed about his future earlier this year.

Liverpool have approached Newcastle over a potential deal and are willing to pay a British record £120million, according to The Athletic. However, the Magpies have long insisted that the Sweden international is not for sale.

Isak has scored 62 goals in 109 appearances since arriving from Real Sociedad for a club-record £63million three years ago, and last season helped United win the Carabao Cup - beating the Reds 2-1 in the final - and qualify for the Champions League for the second time in three seasons.

Newcastle United’s stance on Alexander Isak amid Liverpool approach

Newcastle are under no pressure to sell their prized asset and instead plan to offer Isak a new contract. That was the message relayed by chief executive Darren Eales earlier this year.

“We're in a position now where because of the fact we were able to move a couple of players in January [2025] that weren't really impacting on minutes on the pitch,” Eales said in March.

“We've got that wish and desire to keep our key players, they're all under long-term contracts. So from that perspective, we have no intention at all of those players being moved on, and we're not under the gun or anything like that.

“We've got an ownership that is ambitious, wants the best for the club. So from that perspective, it'd be crazy for us to consider it.

“We’re going to be clear – he [Isak] has multi years left so all of these things, we will have the discussions in terms of a new deal just like we did with, whether it’s Joelinton, Bruno or Anthony Gordon. That’s something that we will approach in the summer.”

Isak is under contract at St James’ Park until 2028.

What Alexander Isak has said on his Newcastle United future

Isak has been asked about his future several times this year and on each occasion spoken about his happiness at St James’ Park.

"There’s not much to say, really. I’ve commented on my situation and my security in Newcastle several times," Isak said previously. “It’s been written how much I love the city and the club, how well I feel there. I’m not thinking about the future. I just want to perform for Newcastle.

“Now we won the cup, but we want to finish strong and reach the Champions League games. That’s where my focus lies. There is no reason for me to think about anything else (other than Newcastle). I am enjoying myself incredibly well at Newcastle. The only focus I have is on playing."

When asked about his contract situation, Isak said: “Yeah, I think, as I've said, I'm not really thinking about the summer. But yeah, that'll probably be a talking point once the season's finished. Yeah, we'll really see, but no talks have been held yet.”
