Manchester City have clearly been keeping a close eye on Nordic talents after the success of Erling Haaland at the Etihad Stadium.
The Norwegian has incredibly netted 124 goals in 146 games for the Citizens since his £51m move from Borussia Dortmund in June 2022 – along with Alexander Isak, Viktor Gyokeres and Martin Odegaard, the Manchester City No.9 is proving that Nordic countries are a real hotbed for talent at the moment.
Hugo Viana has already agreed a deal for Sverre Nypan – another Norwegian prospect – and the theme continues as Manchester City now show interest in Matias Siltanen once again.
Manchester City back at the table to sign Matias Siltanen
Iltalehti in Finland now state that Manchester City are keen to sign the 18-year-old.
The Finnish news outlet claim that Djurgarden could sell Siltanen despite only signing him from KuPS as recently as January, in a deal worth €1m (£867,140).
Iltalehti add that Djurgarden are likely to demand around €20m (£17m) for Siltanen, basing that fee on the £8.5m sale of Lucas Bergvall to Tottenham in February 2024 – a player who has swiftly become a regular at Spurs.
Djurgarden clearly feel they should have requested more for the 19-year-old Sweden international.
Siltanen – who Transfermarkt liken to Toni Kroos – has already told Manchester City fans what type of player he is, saying: “I am one of those No.6s who want to have the ball, play deep passes, but I also like to win one-v-one situations and intercept passes.”
Matias Siltanen wants to join Pep Guardiola at Manchester City
The Citizens were also interested in the teenager back in January before his move to Djurgarden, where Fotbollskanalen made an interesting claim.
The Swedish news outlet stated at the time that Siltanen wanted to join Manchester City – who could lose Ederson – and was only planning to move to Djurgarden if the Citizens did not come forward with an official bid.
That offer never materialised, but the Finland U19 international – who the Guardian believe idolises Rodri – could now finally make the switch to the Etihad Stadium, as Manchester City return to the table.
