Manchester United could be about to land one of the shock inter-Premier League transfers of the summer, according to reports - with Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez being the subject of a 'concrete offer' from the Red Devils as they aim to boost their goalkeeping contingent.
The report by journalist Gaston Edul on X (formerly Twitter) states that United have made their move to land Martinez from Villa in recent hours, having made a concrete offer to land the Argentine.
Negotiations with Villa are already underway, and that could see the 32-year-old World Cup winner make the switch from the Midlands to the north of England - especially with Red Devils stopper Andre Onana being out of favour with current boss Ruben Amorim and picking up a pre-season injury which could rule him out for the early parts of the season.
Martinez, who was called 'world-class' by United legend Gary Neville, is seemingly eager for the move, according to recent reports - and that could see the end of Ohana's time as United's first-choice goalkeeper. The Red Devils are also chasing Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo to improve their attacking ranks, but a deal hasn't been done just yet.
