The Bryan Mbeumo transfer saga has soured the mood around Manchester United going into the 2025/26 campaign.
After a worst-ever Premier League finish last season, many Manchester United fans expected the squad to be ripped apart by Ineos this summer.
However, with just over a month to go until the start of the season, Ruben Amorim has only been given one major signing in the shape of Matheus Cunha.
Ineos have been in talks for Bryan Mbeumo for over a month without coming to an agreement with Brentford.
Latest reports suggest United are still not close to signing Mbeumo, which has sparked even more frustration among the fanbase.

Andy Goldstein slams Ineos over Bryan Mbeumo delay
Ineos have let Amorim down this summer by not getting business done quickly – the United head coach ideally wanted transfers done before the start of the 2025 pre-season tour of the United States.
But now Ineos find themselves locked into a transfer battle with Brentford, refusing to meet their £70m valuation.
Speaking on talkSPORT, United fan Andy Goldstein questioned why Ineos are taking so long to get the Bryan Mbeumo deal done.
“This deal should have been done in one day, with one phone call,” Goldstein said.
“Let’s just say that United get what they want and save £4 million. You’ve lost that. You might have financially saved, but what has it done to morale and support?
“Why are we only going for one player at a time? You look at Spurs, they’ve signed Kudus from West Ham, all of a sudden, you turn the page and they want Morgan Gibbs-White.
“I do not know what the people behind the scenes at my club, Manchester United, are doing. In fact I do… nothing.
“Where’s our people? Where are the other players we are linked to? It stinks of amateur hour.”
Bryan Mbeumo damage already done at Man United
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano insists United’s move for Mbeumo is still ‘alive’ but it is clear that Ineos are still no closer to reaching an agreement.
United have been tunnel-visioned on Mbeumo this summer, meaning Amorim’s other transfer targets have been neglected.
Amorim wants an “athletic” midfielder this summer, but it seems that has been put on hold to focus on Mbeumo. The same can be said about United’s search for a new striker.
United have already missed out on Liam Delap and Viktor Gyokeres, and now there is a risk that the Mbeumo deal could fall through.
The pre-season schedule begins this weekend with a friendly against Leeds United, but it seems Amorim will head into that game with only one major signing.
The frustration around United is boiling over, and it will take more than just Mbeumo’s signature to get fans back on board.
