Will Alexander Isak be a Liverpool player by the end of the transfer window?
If he does, it will arguably be the greatest transfer window in the history of football.
With Florian Wirtz having already joined the club, a front pair of Wirtz and Isak will be a nightmare for English Premier League defences.
But will it become a reality?
The news today seems it’s closer than ever.
Liverpool have already made an approach to Newcastle United over potentially signing Alexander Isak for around £120m.
While Newcastle are insisting that he’s not for sale, it seems that every player has a price.
And the BBC are reporting on the potential Alexander Isak asking price amid that strong interest from Liverpool.
Isak is top of the Reds’ transfer list this summer following his impressive performances last season, helping Eddie Howe’s side win the FA Cup and secure Champions League qualification.
According to a BBC Sport report, it is believed a package to successfully get Isak out of St James’ Park could cost up to £130m.
That value would surpass the fee Liverpool paid Bayer Leverkusen for Florian Wirtz.
By extension, it would also become a new record British transfer fee paid.
If Liverpool did stretch to that amount, that would mean the club would have broken the British transfer fee record twice in the same transfer window.
For a club that’s typically seen as quite thrifty and shrewd in the transfer market, it’s a markedly different approach taken by the club.
Let’s not forget, last summer saw only one outfield player brought into the club in the shape of Federico Chiesa.
It is important to now, however, that the BBC say Newcastle United have been steadfast in their stance that the 25-year-old is not for sale.
No matter what might be happening, Liverpool fans this afternoon are growing decidedly delirious at the thought of Alexander Isak potentially wearing red at Anfield next season.
