Coaches from the Manchester United academy praised the “fantastic job” being done by Thurso-based AG Coaching after taking part in two days of youth football training at the Dammies.
Neill Scott and Gabe Mellor travelled north for the second year in a row for a Premier League Experience – and they again highlighted how enthusiastic and well-mannered the local youngsters had been.
A total of 95 took part across three age groups, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-15. No fewer than 17 “players of the day” were chosen, with each of them receiving either a training shirt or a replica shirt.

AG Coaching founder Alyn Gunn said: “It was a great two days with Gabe and Neill. Their qualities as coaches were there for all to see.
“It’s brilliant that we now have the ability to take coaches of this calibre to Caithness.
“The feedback I’ve received has been very good, so it makes it very worthwhile putting the time and effort into making these things happen. Many thanks to all sponsors and parents for continuing to back our ideas.”

Neill said: “We had an amazing time coaching the children in Thurso. Having coached at similar events over a number years, the enthusiasm for football and also how well-mannered and friendly the children were made it one of the best camps I’ve coached on.
“Alyn has done a fantastic job setting up these camps and has a skill set that wouldn’t be out of place in our academy set-up.”

As previously reported, AG Coaching is extending its youth football training activities to Wick and Brora this summer.
