The brass at La Liga giants Real Madrid have informed Premier League counterparts Liverpool of their financial position regarding the potential signing of Ibrahima Konaté.
That’s according to Diario AS, who have on Tuesday provided an insight into the situation.
The name of stopper Konaté has of course returned to the headlines in Spain’s capital over the last couple of weeks.
This comes amid the understanding that, after making the call not to extend his contract with Liverpool ahead of its expiration in 12 months’ time, the France international could well be on the move this summer.
Eager not to lose a player of such value for free, the board at Anfield are now giving real consideration to sanctioning Konaté’s sale over the weeks ahead.
And with both this, and the fact that the 26-year-old has eyes only for the Santiago Bernabéu, in mind, Real Madrid have shown their hand in negotiations.
As per a report from AS, Los Blancos ‘are considering offering €20-25 million. ‘Take it or leave it, Liverpool.’ That’s the situation right now.’
The problem for Florentino Pérez and co, however, is that Liverpool, despite Konaté’s contract situation, are demanding €50 million for their defensive standout.
