Ruben Amorim has once again found himself in the firing line with unfair criticism, especially when the Manchester United manager has already made one potent point.
The 40-year-old Manchester United manager already weathered an early wave of remarks around his reign at Old Trafford after his arrival from Sporting CP in 2024.
Ruben Amorim took his place in the Old Trafford hot seat after Erik ten Hag was sacked as United manager last October amid the 2024-25 Premier League season.
The former Sporting CP head coach, who arrived at United last November, was only able to steer the Red Devils to 15th place in the Premier League table last season.
Amorim could also have received an early momentum boost in his reign at the Premier League club had United beaten Tottenham in the Europa League final.
But Spurs defeated United 1-0 at the San Mames Stadium and Tottenham lifted the Europa League trophy in May under the club’s former manager Ange Postecoglou.

Ashley Young missed the mark on one point that he made about Ruben Amorim amid the Man Utd manager’s reign at Old Trafford
All eyes are now on Ruben Amorim and how the former Sporting CP manager can turn the ship around at Old Trafford after the Red Devils’ woeful 2024-25 campaign.
The Manchester United boss is in his first pre-season camp at the Red Devils and will soon embark on his first pre-season tour with the Premier League club.
Amorim has also been afforded the opportunity to begin the first key overhaul of the United first-team squad that he inherited from former Ajax manager Erik ten Hag.
However, United’s Premier League fixture list dropped in June and the Red Devils face a tough opening five matches to the 2025-26 campaign at Old Trafford.

Ashley Young did not impress United fans recently after the 40-year-old former Red Devils captain raised his own concerns for Amorim ahead of the new season.
“You have got to set your marker, put your stamp down, as soon as you start this season,” he told Sky Sports.
“I don’t think that anyone can give him any more excuses.
“It is now or never, really, to be honest. He has got to have a good pre-season with the team, work out what his team is, what his best team is, what players fit into the system, unless he is going to change the system, but you can’t see him changing the formation that he has been playing.
“It is going to be intriguing to see what happens after this pre-season.”

Ruben Amorim already addressed one ‘problem’ about Man Utd even before Ashley Young raised it in his remarks
Ashley Young, who left Everton this summer and became a free agent, is the latest armchair pundit to throw early criticism during the ‘Amorim era’ at the Red Devils.
The ex-Aston Villa and Inter Milan star’s criticism has come at a time when Ineos and Sir Jim Ratcliffe have only made one marquee signing for Amorim this summer.
Matheus Cunha arrived at United from Wolves in June and Amorim is still waiting for more signings to be brought in and for other first-team players to be offloaded.
However, Amorim has already addressed Young’s remarks about “excuses” when he raised the point himself about United fans and other people in the 2024-25 season.
“It is also my fault. The team is not improving,” he said after United’s 2-0 defeat to Newcastle at Old Trafford last December, as per the Premier League’s official website.
“It is a little bit lost in this moment and it is a bit embarrassing to be Manchester United coach and lose a lot of games.
“I think people are tired of excuses at this club. This club needs a shock.
“When you have these [kinds] of moments, especially in the big clubs, it’s really hard to turn things around, especially when you don’t have a lot of time to train the basics, to cope with the difficult moments.
“So, we have to acknowledge our position, the way you see the league, everybody can beat everybody.”
Amorim is no stranger to the task that he faces at United and, unfortunately, the Portuguese coach will continue to have his ‘critics’ so early in his reign at the club.
