On a day that has been dominated by talk of Alexander Isak leaving Newcastle United, one of his teammates is suddenly on the brink of leaving.
Amid the excitement of the Hugo Ekitike pursuit, Toon fans were rocked on Tuesday by Liverpool making a move for Alexander Isak. However, Newcastle United are still adamant that the 25-year-old is not for sale.
But it is a different story when it comes to Sean Longstaff.
Newcastle have been expecting Longstaff to leave this summer, and now a move away appears to be on the horizon.

Newcastle United agree deal to sell Sean Longstaff
Leeds United were recently close to signing Longstaff, only for Toon officials to reject an offer of £10million plus £2million in add-ons. That decision shocked Newcastle fans, many of which believe now is the time to cash in on the 27-year-old.
Geordie Boot Boys reported on Tuesday morning that Leeds were expected to make a new move for Longstaff, and that is what they have done.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein has broken the news that Leeds have an agreement in principle to sign Longstaff from Newcastle United.
It is the right time for Newcastle to sell Longstaff, as he only has 12 months left to run on his contract. Selling Longstaff will massively help Newcastle’s PSR position, with the academy graduate’s move away set to go down as pure profit.
Sky Sports News reporter Keith Downie has provided a further update on the situation, stating on X that Daniel Farke’s side are going to pay more than £12million to sign Longstaff.
Newcastle United wanted more money, and that is exactly what they are getting.
What Leeds United are getting in Sean Longstaff
As for Leeds United, they are getting a solid Premier League midfielder who will add valuable experience. That is going to be important for Leeds as they aim to survive in the top flight following promotion from the Championship.
Longstaff will leave with the best wishes of every Toon fan. While he has fallen out of favour over the past six months, he has been an extremely important player during the Eddie Howe era.
There was a long period of time when Longstaff was a key component in the middle of the park, while he has scored some pivotal goals in recent years. A semi-final brace saw Newcastle advance to the 2023 Carabao Cup final, while he also scored the Magpies’ third on that famous night against Paris Saint-Germain.
But Longstaff’s most important Newcastle United goal may have actually come in August 2024. He netted the winner in a penalty shootout against Nottingham Forest to keep Howe’s side in the Carabao Cup.
Newcastle ended up going the distance and winning the entire thing, bringing an end to their 70-year wait for a domestic trophy. While Isak scored the winner at Wembley, it was Longstaff who kicked off the journey.
