SALT LAKE CITY – The new Salt Lake City Stars uniform will honor the roots of basketball in the state of Utah with its latest redesign.
The Jazz’s G League affiliate will wear uniforms with a design that resembles the logo of the Utah Stars from the American Basketball Association.
Stars Uniform Will Honor ABA Roots
The Stars have unveiled a series of new logos and a color palette of Mountain Purple, Sky Blue, and Midnight Black, matching the Jazz’s latest redesign.

According to a release from the team, the Stars uniform is “a modern interpretation of the original Utah Stars design, with the team name shooting across a purple basketball. A new secondary mark, a sleek shooting star, symbolizes the upward trajectory of G League athletes and the Stars’ core role in player development.”
The Stars previously wore a throwback Utah Stars ABA jersey in 2023 as part of a two-game promtional event.
Stars Undergo Changes On Coaching Staff, Front Office
The uniform redesign is the latest shakeup in what has been a busy offseason for the Stars.
In June, Rich Higgins was named the team’s newest head coach, replacing head coach Steve Wojciechowski, who is joining Hardy’s staff in a full-time role with the Jazz.

In addition to Wojciechowski, former Stars general manager Marquis Newman has promoted to Director of Pro Scouting for the Jazz, while Katie Benzan will fill Newman’s role in the G League.
Benzan played three years at Harvard before finishing her career at the University of Maryland, where she played from 2020-2022.
The moves come after the Jazz named Austin Ainge, son of CEO Danny Ainge, as the team’s President of Basketball Operations.
History of the Utah Stars
The Stars moved to Utah in 1970 after spending three seasons in Anaheim and Los Angeles.
The team won their lone championship in their innagural season in Utah, beating the Kentucky Colonels in seven games with a 131-121 victory in Game 7 at the Salt Palace.
The Stars went out of business in 1975, one year before the NBA and ABA merger.
