Manchester United have not included Antony in pre-season training plans but he has made a return to Carrington.

Ruben Amorim welcomed players back to Carrington for pre-season training last week as preparations for the 2025/26 season began.

However, five players did not return for training as work continued to find them new clubs this summer.

Marcus Rashford returned to Carrington to undergo individual training despite not being involved in Amorim’s future plans.

Now, it seems Antony is also set to make his return, although his focus is on securing a move back to Real Betis.

Antony set to discuss Real Betis move at Carrington

Amorim has told Antony he is not in his plans next season, and the Brazilian has also made it clear what his priority is this summer.

Antony starred at Real Betis on loan last season, helping the Spanish side to reach the Europa Conference League final.

This summer, the Brazilian wants to return to Betis, but they have so far failed to meet United’s £33m asking price for Antony.

All parties involved would like for an agreement to be reached, and Antony will hope progress can finally be made as he discusses his future at Carrington.

According to Spanish outlet ABC, Antony has returned to Manchester following his lengthy summer break. He arrived on Tuesday to meet with United’s leadership and discuss his future.

The report states that Antony will make it clear to United’s hierarchy that his only wish is to re-join Betis this summer.

What Real Betis have offered Man United for Antony

Ever since his loan move ended, Betis have wanted to sign Antony, but United’s asking price has made it a difficult deal for the Spanish side to afford.

Ineos are (so far) refusing to budge from their £33m asking price – a fee that would write off Antony’s costs from a PSR perspective.

But Betis have proposed a shared ownership deal. A creative idea to try and force a deal through with all parties happy.

Essentially, the deal would see Betis buy Antony 100 per cent; however, they would only pay around 40 per cent of his price tag up front, giving United an initial 60 per cent sell-on clause. They would then buy his remaining rights over the next few seasons.

Ideally, Ineos would prefer up-front cash in a permanent deal, but talks are ongoing to find the best solution for all involved.
