Man-Utd-Ruiz-Mbeumo
The Manchester United first team squad is in serious need of an overhaul this summer, especially if they are to right the wrongs of the 2024/25 campaign.
Ruben Amorim’s side finished the season in a measly 15th in the Premier League, subsequently falling way below the huge expectations placed upon them by the fanbase.
However, the boss will need huge funds if he is to manage such a turnaround of players to help him in his quest to lead the club back to any form of domestic glory.

He’s already secured the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves, costing a fee in the region of £62.5m and taking the number ten shirt off Marcus Rashford - with the academy graduate likely to depart this summer.
Despite the early business, deals have dried up in recent weeks, but more work is continuing to be done behind the scenes to transform the squad ahead of 2025/26.
The latest on United’s hunt for new additions this summer
Bryan Mbeumo has been a star linked with United for what feels like an eternity, but the Red Devils are no closer to agreeing a fee for the Cameroonian’s signature this summer.
The 25-year-old has been subject to two separate bids this window, with the latest totalling £62.5m, but it’s not enough to convince Brentford to seek their star man, who they value at £65m.

However, he’s not the only player currently in their sights, with Lyon star Corentin Tolisso firmly on their radar this window, according to CaughtOffside.
They claim that the club’s hierarchy have already made contact with the Ligue 1 outfit over a move for the 30-year-old, who could be available for £20m this window.

It also states that he could be open to a switch to Old Trafford this summer, viewing United's project positively, but he won’t force a move to join the Red Devils if an offer doesn’t match his asking price.
Further reports from French outlet Le Progres, via Sport Witness, suggest that the midfielder has been rebuffing offers for some time. However, after receiving an offer from United, who are said to be 'insistent' on signing him, it could make Tolisso think twice about whether he wants to depart Lyon.
Why United’s latest target would be perfect for Mbeumo
There’s no denying that Mbeumo would be an excellent addition for United this summer, especially when delving into the numbers produced at Brentford last campaign.

The Cameroonian international managed to find the net on 20 occasions in the Premier League, ending the year as one of only five players who managed to achieve such a feat.
Only Mohamed Salah, Erling Haaland and Alexander Isak registered more goals in England’s top-flight, highlighting the threat he carries within the final third.
Whilst it would be a huge investment, it certainly would be a worthwhile one, especially considering he registered 45% of the goals the Red Devils scored last campaign on his own.
Should he move to the North West, he could be aided in his quest by current French star Tolisso, who possesses all the tools to aid Mbeumo within the final third.

The Lyon star, who has been labelled “world-class” by former teammate Marc Roca, has registered 11 combined goals and assists, presenting Amorim’s side with another impressive option in the final third.
He also registered 6.4 progressive passes per 90 last season, with 5.7 of which being into the final third, handing Mbeumo the tools he will need to hit the ground running at Old Trafford.

Tolisso has further impressed with the ball at his feet, making 1.2 key passes per 90, whilst also notching 1.4 carries into the final third per 90, further having the ability to offer an added attacking threat.
£20m for a player of his quality and experience could prove to be an excellent pickup, potentially moving to England and providing key depth in the midfield department.
If he can replicate his excellent figures from his time in France, it would be a shrewd addition for the Red Devils, with the prospect of the star linking up with Mbeumo one that the supporters should get excited about.
