Door may now be open for Manchester United to sign£15m Premier League ‘warrior’ as reporter claims talks held

Manchester United snapped up Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu in January, but may still be tempted to sign another left wing-back.

Ruben Amorim was appointed as Manchester United boss in November and immediately brought his 3-4-2-1 system from Sporting.

Such an enormous switch in system during the season was always going to be a risk, and Amorim did not quite produce the results he was seeking.

Amorim invested in a wing-back in January, though, as United snapped up Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu from Lecce.

The Dane is far from the finished product, but he showed some promise in the opening stages of his United career.

An experienced left wing-back could ease the pressure on Dorgu ahead of his first full Premier League campaign, and United appear to have a target in mind.

Manchester United move for Pervis Estupinan

Alvaro Fernandez Carreras has joined Real Madrid, with some United fans potentially frustrated that the Spaniard hasn’t been lured back to Old Trafford.

United’s focus this summer has been on proven Premier League quality, and that could be the case again with a move for a new left wing-back.

Jacobs has previously highlighted United’s interest in Estupinan, but it’s now stated that United have held talks with Estupinan’s representatives to discuss a potential move to Old Trafford.

AC Milan are also interested, having seen first-choice left-back Theo Hernandez leave the club for a move to Al-Hilal this summer.

Brighton are now prepared to sell Estupinan after securing the signature of Maxim De Cuyper from Club Brugge.

Estupinan has proven himself in the Premier League, but may prefer to move on rather than play second fiddle to De Cuyper.

The Belgian’s move to the Amex Stadium now leaves the window open for United to pounce for Estupinan, though Milan will seemingly put up a real fight.

Pervis Estupinan an interesting fit for Ruben Amorim

Estupinan’s strong performances in the Premier League will appeal to United, and he could be the ideal left wing-back to rotate alongside Dorgu.

The Ecuador international has predominantly played as a left-back in a four-man defence at Brighton, linking up with Kaoru Mitoma on the left flank.

Estupinan would need to play higher up the pitch as a wing-back at United, but he has the attacking quality to play in that role.

Roberto De Zerbi was a big fan of Estupinan, telling Brighton’s official website that he could become one of the best left-backs in the world.

“I must admit that Pervis is one of the most crucial players for us because he started from left-back, but you can find him in a striker position,” said De Zerbi. “He’s very smart, he’s one of our secrets I think.

“If he becomes clean in the first control and the passes, I think he can become one of the best left-backs in the world,” he added.

Current Seagulls boss Fabian Hurzeler told Sussex World that he thinks Estupinan is a ‘warrior’, believing that nothing can stop him.

“It’s impressive, he’s like a warrior,” said Hurzeler. “You can’t stop him – only a muscle injury can stop him – so hopefully he takes care of his body.

“But overall we are really happy with him. He shows his skills, he shows why we all love him and it’s because of his intensity, it’s because of his resilience,” he added.

It’s unclear just how much Brighton would want for Estupinan, having paid £15million to sign him in 2022, as noted by The Daily Mail, but the 27-year-old could fit the bill as United seek competition for Dorgu.
