Bayern Munich fans want the board fired over Luis Diaz transfer interest

Bayern Munich fans have slammed the club's hierarchy after a $78 million bid was submitted for Liverpool winger Luis Diaz.

Diaz has been linked with several clubs this summer, with Barcelona and Al-Nassr expressing interest in the 28-year-old. Bayern has since entered the race, but saw its bid rejected by Liverpool, who value Diaz closer to $117 million.

Liverpool has no plans to sell Diaz this summer, and it remains to be seen whether Bayern will submit an improved offer. However, fans have questioned the vision and called for the transfer board to be fired after a similar situation involving Sadio Mane occurred three years ago.

It's been a disappointing summer transfer window for Bayern. The Bundesliga champions saw their long-time pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz end as Liverpool agreed to a package worth $155 million. Winger Leroy Sane also rejected a new contract and joined Galatasaray on a free transfer.

Mathys Tel also completed his permanent move to Tottenham, and just $2.7 million has been spent on Jonathan Tah and Tom Bischof. While an audacious bid for Diaz may appear exciting, most Bayern fans haven't received it well.

"Tell me how he’s any better than Sane," one fan wrote on X. "He’s a fantastic player, but actually so overpriced for his age... sadly board don’t see it," another added.

One Bayern fan page issued a brutal statement, which gained much support with over 1,800 likes and 170,000 views on X. "Tell me what role Luis Diaz actually fits in Kompany’s 4-2-4," BayernTalente wrote.

"Tell me how Diaz is the right transfer for Bayern's upheaval. Tell me how adding a soon-to-be 29-year-old winger makes any sense given the age structure on our wings.

"Tell me how anyone can justify handing out a 4–5 year deal to a soon-to-be 29-year-old physical winger, especially right after Mane and Palhinha. Tell me what makes Diaz such a special player that you pay €70–80 million for him at almost 29.

"Tell me how he fills any of the creative or technical gaps in our squad. Tell me how he’s supposed to be equally effective in Bayern’s system. Tell me how this is building for the future.

"Tell me how this aligns with the fact that, because of 50+1, we have to invest twice as smart as every other top club in Europe. Tell me who seriously thinks this is anywhere close to a smart deal.

"Tell me how this isn’t just a desperate panic move. Tell me how this club is not being run in a completely disastrous way. Eberl out. Hoeneß out. Rummenigge out. Whole fucking supervisory board out. Everyone out.

"This is exactly how you destroy a great club and drag it back into dark times." As mentioned in the post, Bayern signed 30-year-old Sadio Mane from Liverpool in 2022 for approximately $43 million.

Mane was seen as one of the best in the world at the time, but left Bayern for Al-Nassr 14 months later. Bayern managed to recoup $30.5 million, but the transfer was seen as a failure.
