The 24-year-old came through our youth ranks to establish himself as a key figure in our first-team squad, making 167 appearances at senior level while contributing 17 goals and 19 assists in those outings.

Given he’s one of our own and the closer connection that comes with that, Ramsey remains a firm fans’ favourite and the desire and desperation to see him flourish at Villa continues to hold strong.
That said, it’s a big year for him in the upcoming season as although he initially thrived under Unai Emery after his arrival in October 2022, he’s had his injury problems over the past two campaigns while modest returns of four goals and seven assists in 46 appearances last year show that he still has plenty of improvement and development to come to increase those numbers.
According to [The Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2025/07/15/nottingham-forest-transfers-jacob-ramsey-aston-villa-target/) though, he’s shown enough to convince Nottingham Forest to make Ramsey their primary transfer target this summer as they look to address some high-profile exits of their own, and so it remains to be seen if they’re able to make an offer that Villa find hard to turn down.
It’s added that Forest have been keen on Ramsey for some time while both Everton and West Ham United hold an interest too, and so it will be crucial to see if Emery is open to approving an exit for the Villa ace firstly, and if so, what it would take for the club to consider a bid acceptable. From the Villa boss’s point of view, he’s said on multiple occasions previously how much he values Ramsey, and so it would be a surprise if he were ready to approve an exit.
Given the sentimental aspect of the situation coupled with the potential that Ramsey can still unlock to be a decisive figure for Villa on a more consistent basis, it feels as though it would be a mistake to green light a departure this summer.
That said, Emery may feel as though he needs more output from his midfield options in front of goal, and if Ramsey doesn’t give him that, we would potentially have a significant fee available to reinvest back into the squad to sign a replacement who could perhaps deliver on a more consistent basis.
Time will tell if a formal offer is made and what Villa’s response will be, but it will certainly be a decision that they will consider meticulously before going one way or the other.
