Milwaukee Bucks rookie second-round pick Bogoljub Marković has now had three games under his belt at the 2025 NBA Summer League. Marković has seen his minutes increase in each of the three contests so far, and although the Bucks are only 1-2, the assessment of Marković is starting to develop. In fact, one Milwaukee Bucks legend has seen encouraging things from Marković and labeled him as an standout player.

How Has Milwaukee Bucks Second-Round Pick Bogoljub Markovic Been in Summer League?
Bogoljub Marković was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks with the 47th pick in the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft. After playing with Mega Basket in Serbia, Marković traveled to join the team and prepare for Summer League in Las Vegas.
Through three games, Marković has averaged 6.3 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 1 assist. After putting up 0 points in this opening game against the Denver Nuggets, a game in which he came off the bench and got just 11 minutes, he had 5 points against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Although he had 3 fouls in just 12 minutes in that contest, he showed more signs of life offensively.

In his third game, against the Los Angeles Clippers, Marković had a strong all-around performance that drew eyes from across the league. In 23 minutes, the big Serbian had 14 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal. He went 4-8 from the field, made 1 of his 2 three-pointers, and made all 5 of his free throw attempts. Although he had two turnovers and three fouls, it was a strong day from Marković.

While Marković is not the quickest player, he showed some good ability in transition, running the floor to get himself easy looks at the rim. His three-pointer came off a transition play where Andre Jackson Jr. broke the Clippers press and found his teammate on the left wing. He also had an assist from of a loose ball in which he kicked it ahead to Chris Livingston.

It’s obviously too early to make a precise assessment of where Marković is at, but Milwaukee Bucks legend Marques Johnson has liked what he has seen so far.
Milwaukee Bucks Legend Marques Johnson Praises Bogoljub Marković
Marković has just three Summer League games under his belt, but five-time All-Star and Milwaukee Bucks legend Marques Johnson has liked what he has seen so far. Johnson has had the chance to watch practice in addition to the games, and says Marković looks like a good player.
“Just watching him going up and down and in practice situations, the dude is good, man, he’s talented. I like him, he’s got tremendous upside.”

The upside Johnson speaks of is due to a number of factors, firstly the fact that Marković is just 20 years old. He has a lot of room to grow and develop more skills as a player. There is certainly a precedent for former Mega Basket players making it in the NBA – Nikola Jokic being one example of a Serbian who has excelled in the American league.
Johnson added that he expects Marković to turn out to be a good player for Milwaukee.
“He did some okay things, some good things, did some things that is gonna need some work, but he’s a young player, you expect that.”
Marković and the Bucks are back in action on Tuesday against the Chicago Bulls.
