Arsenal Could Use“Special”Talent In Swap Deal To Secure Their Top Transfer Target–Report

Arsenal may consider offering Reiss Nelson to Crystal Palace, according to reports.

The Eagles have shown an interest in the 25-year-old previously, and The Standard claim that it could “prove useful” in future negotiations for Eberechi Eze.

The Gunners are expected to make an offer for Eze before the transfer window closes but finding an agreement on the transfer fee could prove difficult.

At the moment, Palace want teams to meet the England international’s release clause, which is £60m up front and another £8m in add-ons.

Including a player, like Nelson, in an offer, would reduce the cost of the deal, but a lot would depend on how much the forward is valued at.

Arteta is a fan of Nelson but his star has faded

Speaking back in late 2023, manager Mikel Arteta made it clear how highly he rated the winger:

“There’s a prospect that we can really take to the next level. We think the potential is there and we think we’ve seen something in Reiss that is special.”

For one reason or another, things haven’t really worked out for Nelson since then. A crucial last-gasp winner against Bournemouth could have kick-started his career at the Emirates but it didn’t. He was loaned out to Fulham last season but he only made 12 appearances due to injury.

Arsenal may wait to make their move for Eze

Speaking about the Gunners’ interest in the Palace star earlier his week, BBC reporter Sami Mokbel confirmed that a “formal approach” is likely but Arteta’s team may wait until the last few weeks of the transfer window to make their move.

Eze has less than two years left on his contract at Selhurst Park and the Eagles may soften their stance on selling him for less £60m the closer we get to deadline day.
