Portland Trail Blazers rookie center Yang Hansen came through with another good Summer League performance Tuesday night against the New Orleans Pelicans.
Yang scored 15 points while going 3 of 6 from three-point range, and added four rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots in 28 minutes.
His performance helped lift the Blazers to a 93-87 victory over the Pelicans at the Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas.
Hansen began the game by hitting a three-pointer early in the first quarter on his way to scoring eight points in the first half.
Through three games, Hansen is averaging 11.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2 blocks per game. He is shooting 13 of 28 (46.4%) from the field and 4 of 11 (36.3%) from three-point range.
On the other side of the court, New Orleans center Yves Missi struggled to get going. Missi, named to the Second-Team All-Rookie team following last season, shot just 1 of 11 from the field for two points to go along with eight rebounds and four blocked shots.
Pelicans rookie forward Derik Queen, passed on by the Blazers in the draft, scored 17 points with 10 rebounds but committed eight turnovers.
The Blazers (2-1) fell behind 62-58 entering the fourth quarter after scoring just 15 points in the third. They dominated the final quarter, 35-25, to pull out the win over the 0-3 Pelicans.
RAYAN RUPERT BOUNCEBACK
Blazers guard/forward Rayan Rupert overcame a three-point performance during Saturday’s loss to Memphis to resemble more the player who scored 23 points during Friday’s win over Golden State.
On Tuesday, Rupert scored 14 points in the first half and finished with 21 points on 9-of-12 shooting. He also added three rebounds and two steals.
CALEB LOVE SHOWS PROMISE
The rookie guard, signed to a two-way contract following the draft, scored 17 points with 12 rebounds and five assists. However, he shot just 5 of 16 from the field and 3 of 8 on three-point attempts.
