Newcastle United have settled into their hotel in Austria during their five-day trip to Seefeld.

Head coach Eddie Howe was delighted to check in with £55million arrival Anthony Elanga on board and hopes that the Magpies are in an even better place by the time they leave transfer-wise.

Newcastle will jet straight into Glasgow for their pre-season friendly on Saturday.

Images have dropped from Austria of the team on their first day. Here's what has been noted so far.

Sean Longstaff to depart the squad

The midfielder had been spotted in training in Austria but will now depart to complete a move to Leeds.

The North Shields lad has not been pushing to leave but a fee of around £12m has now been settled.

Alexander Isak sticking with squad number for now

There's a few weeks before Newcastle submit their squad numbers to the Premier League and it's hardly going to be a low key announcement if Isak decides to take the no.9 shirt.

He's been pictured wearing 14 so far in training but the No 9 is vacant after the departure of Callum Wilson. Anthony Elanga has been wearing No 25 but that could be temporary.

He wore 21 at Nottingham Forest, and Newcastle has already made it clear that it will be announced later. Hold back on shirts being printed for now, folks!

Travis Hernes could get big chance in pre-season

The Norway Under-20 international got a sniff of the action last summer in pre-season before being sent out on loan to Aalborg BK. After a dozen appearances on loan he now gets the chance to impress Eddie Howe once again.

The 19-year-old was signed from Shrewsbury Town with an eye for the future, and he already looked like the real deal for the Under-21s and Under-18s.

The future Norway international, already capped at youth level, also got minutes at senior level in pre-season during the Sela Cup against Girona and Brest at St James' Park. He brings a physical presence to the table and is deemed to push on at United.

United's trip to Austria could not be a better window for Hernes as he looks to impress. Longstaff's move to Leeds may open up a route to the first team.
