Newcastle United could accept offers for Lewis Miley this summer as they eye midfield reinforcements in the summer transfer window.
That is according to former Man United and Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 19-year-old is keen to play more regular football at this stage of his career.
However, Eddie Howe is keen to strengthen in midfield this summer amid interest in the likes of Conor Gallagher in a move which could push Miley down the pecking order.
Football Insider revealed on 13 July that Atletico could accept £50million offers for Gallagher as Newcastle are keeping a close eye on his situation.
That will likely have knock-on affects for the squad’s fringe players, with Sean Longstaff expected to move on while speculation continues about Miley’s future.
Meanwhile, Brown told Football Insider on 21 April that Newcastle will entertain offers for Miley this summer with one eye on their ongoing profit and sustainability concerns.

Eddie Howe eyes midfield signings at Newcastle United
Brown told Football Insider on 10 July that Howe is keen to sign Gallagher should he be made available this summer and could clear space in his squad to facilitate the deal.
The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that the arrival of a new midfielder could force both Miley and Longstaff away from St James’ Park.
“*Eddie Howe wants to sign a new midfielder,*” he told Football Insider.
“We spoke about Conor Gallagher, and they’ve been linked with other midfielders too.
“Of course, they’ve got Joelinton who plays that box-to-box role, with Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali in there as well, so where does a new option fit?
“You have to look at the squad, because it’s the players on the fringes who will be affected.
“They’ve got Lewis Miley there, who I’m not sure they see being a first-team regular.
“He’s very talented and he’s been in and around the squad, but I think if they get a new midfielder in, they could listen to offers for him.
“Longstaff is the other one, he’s been linked with Leeds and that would free up space.
“But both of those players will find themselves further down the pecking order if somebody like Gallagher comes in, and they’ll be looking to move on in search of regular minutes.”

Harvey Elliott update emerges as Magpies join the race
Alongside their interest in Gallagher, Newcastle are also eyeing Liverpool star Harvey Elliott as an option to bolster Howe’s squad in the transfer market.
Brown told Football Insider on 15 July that Newcastle have joined the race to sign Elliott alongside Tottenham, Brighton and a number of Bundesliga clubs.
The England Under-21 star is expected to make a decision about his future later in the window after carefully considering all of his options.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider in March that Elliott is unhappy with his role at Liverpool and is keen to leave in search of more regular first-team football.
