Barry, 22, spent the second-half of last season on loan at Hull City. However, he featured on only four occasions for the Tigers due to injury.

In this latest update regarding his situation bySky Sports, he is set to link up with the Blades. Their boss Ruben Selles worked with him at the MKM Stadium.

After joining Hull City this past winter, Barry told their website: “I’m really excited. I had a good start to the season and, hopefully, I can end it really well. I’ve got a lot of goals in my mind that I want to achieve here.

“I spoke to the gaffer and he said all the right things. I watched the Sheffield United game and that was a big turning point for me because everything the gaffer said was spot on and came to fruition.”

GiveMeSport claimed earlier this summer that League One champions Birmingham City were keen on the player. However, nothing materialised on that front in the end.

Sheffield United could see Barry as someone to boost their attacking department. SUFC are gearing up for life under Selles.

The ex-England youth international had spells as a youngster at West Brom and Barcelona. Aston Villa swooped in 2020 and he has since played once for their first-team.

He was loaned out by the Premier League outfit to Ipswich Town, Swindon Town, MK Dons and Salford City to get some experience under his belt. Stockport County came calling in 2023 and he was a hit during his time at Edgeley Park.

Barry scored 25 goals in 46 games with the Hatters to earn a temporary switch to Hull City. However, his time with the Tigers didn’t work out in the end.

What now for Sheffield United-bound Louie Barry?

Sheffield United will offer Barry a change of scene and a chance to show what he can do in the second tier. SUFC will be aiming for promotion to the top flight.

If he can keep fit, the Birmingham-born man could turn out to be a useful addition for the Blades. He will give them more competition and depth going forward.

The South Yorkshire outfit lost in the play-off final to Sunderland in May at Wembley. They have since parted ways with popular former boss Chris Wilder and brought in ex-Southampton, Reading and Hull City man Selles to replace him in a surprise move after his sacking by the latter.
