On Tuesday, journalist Florian Plettenberg reported Eintracht Frankfurt rejected Newcastle United’s €80m bid for Hugo Ekitiké mainly due to payment terms.
Sky Deutschland states Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krösche wants €100m for the striker.
Bild also states Newcastle’s €80m bid was turned down on Tuesday morning as Eintracht Frankfurt continue to demand €100m.
The Magpies intend to first agree terms with Ekitiké and are the two parties are in regular contact. The report adds officials are ‘working hard’ to reach a verbal agreement with him.
Ekitiké wants to move to the Premier League, where he also has Liverpool as an option. On Tuesday, claims from the UK stated the Premier League winners are working to sign Newcastle United star Alexander Isak.
Bild report Liverpool believe they can convince both the Frenchman and Isak, and if Eddie Howe’s side were to refuse to sell the Swede, the Reds can focus on Ekitiké.
Newcastle are aware of Liverpool’s interest in the Eintracht Frankfurt player and aim to beat them. They are in ‘intensive discussions’ with the German club but are yet to reach an agreement.
The report claims Newcastle are expected to return with an improved offer as they are ‘willing to pay even more’. There’s no mention of the fee they plan to offer or if they are ready to meet the €100m demand.
Ekitiké will then have to decide on Newcastle, if Liverpool remain in the battle for his signature.
