Report: Liverpool now have a 'growing feeling' about Alexander Isak making a move to Anfield

Alexander Isak has been Liverpool’s dream striker target for as long as many can remember.

The attacker has extensive Premier League experience and, behind Erling Haaland, he’s probably the best striker in the top flight.

Isak scored a massive number of goals for Newcastle last season, with his form helping lead Eddie Howe’s men to win the Carabao Cup over Liverpool.

His performances also earned the Magpies Champions League qualification, with that being a key factor behind whether Isak was going to stay at Newcastle or not this summer.

But now that Howe is going after Hugo Ekitike, it feels like Liverpool have more or less given them an ultimatum, saying, ‘give us Isak for £120million or we’ll sign your number one target.’

And now, it seems like the Reds know where they stand, which, with their need for a striker still high, is exactly what they would have wanted.

Liverpool have a ‘growing feeling’ that Alexander Isak could be tempted by a move to Anfield

As mentioned, Isak is one of the best number nines in the Premier League, which is one of the main things Liverpool were missing last season.

Indeed, Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo both did more than solid jobs of being the Reds’ number nine last season.

However, there’s no denying that Arne Slot’s men would have been far better off if they had a natural number nine leading their attacking line.

And, as per a report from Liverpool ECHO journalist Ian Doyle, it seems like Liverpool may have found that in Isak.

In his report, the journalist outlined that there is a ‘growing feeling’ at Liverpool that Isak could be ‘tempted’ with a move away from St James’ Park this summer.

However, the main problem is that Newcastle’s stance has always been that they don’t want to sell.

But if the Sweden international tells them that he wants to leave, they likely won’t be able to stand in his way.

Liverpool need to go all in on Alexander Isak

Although the likes of Ekitike and Benjamin Sesko would have been more than impressive additions for Liverpool this summer, Isak always has, and always will have been their number one target.

The way that the former Real Sociedad man carries himself on the pitch and brings his team up are qualities you don’t often find in players.

And now, it feels like the Reds may have found their ideal striker to help bolster their attacking ranks.

Isak would no doubt form an incredible partnership with Florian Wirtz and Mohamed Salah with this move likely making the Reds one of the hardest teams to face in the world, if that wasn’t already the case, of course.

Only time will tell what the future has in store, but for now, it feels like Slot and Richard Hughes could genuinely pull this off, which, honestly, would be absolutely incredible.
