Aston Villa set to green light transfer which will reunite forward and manager

Aston Villa forward Louie Barry is set to join Championship promotion hopefuls Sheffield United on loan for the forthcoming season - a move which'll be the eighth loan move of his Villa career, to the seventh different club.

Barry joined Villa from Barcelona in 2020 and has made one senior appearance, that coming in the 2021 tie with Liverpool behind closed doors,

Since, the 22-year-old, who spent ten years in the academy of West Bromwich Albion before moving to Barcelona in 2019, has had spells with Ipswich Town, Swindon Town, MK Dons, Salford City, Stockport County twice and then, in January of last year, Hull City.

Barry made only four appearances for the Tigers before being struck down with injury, which ruled him out for the remainder of the season - but he did leave a lasting impression on his manager Ruben Selles, who has since taken over at Bramall Lane from Chris Wilder and is set to link up with Barry again.

The Blades missed out on an immediate return to the Premier League last season, despite going toe to toe with automatic promotion pair Leeds United and Burnley for much of the campaign, but they lost in the play-off final to Sunderland and are preparing for another tilt in the second tier.

Barry, so far, has made 126 career appearances across his loan spells and has racked up 35 goals, including 25 for Stockport between the summer of 2023 and January of this year - and that included six months of injuries - as the club secured promotion to League One and challenged for the Championship.
