Ollie Watkins
Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins could draw the attention of Premier League champions Liverpool this summer as they look to strengthen their forward line further - and he is reportedly a player of interest if they can't snare Alexander Isak away from Newcastle United.
The Reds, in mourning following the passing of forward Diogo Jota this summer, have signed Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth and Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen to address their full-back areas, while they also smashed their transfer record to bring Florian Wirtz to the club - also from Leverkusen.
They are expected to sign another attacker as they seek to defend their title under Arne Slot; Darwin Nunez could leave the club, while Luis Diaz is also wanted by Bayern Munich, but Liverpool are on the look-out for another forward to swell their existing options. Isak, of Champions League rivals Newcastle, is of interest.
In the event that they can't tempt the Magpies into parting with their prized asset, who scored against the Reds at Wembley in the EFL Cup final in the winter, they'll look elsewhere - and the Villa talisman is a player they could consider making an offer for.
As well as Watkins, Liverpool like the look of Yoane Wissa of Brentford, Hugo Ekitike of Eintracht Frankfurt - also wanted by Newcastle - Napoli's Victor Osimhen and Rodrygo of Real Madrid if they can't lure Swedish international Isak to Merseyside, a player who would likely cost more than Wirtz.
There has been plentiful speculation regarding Watkins and his future this summer; the 29-year-old has hit double figures in all five of his seasons with the club since joining from Brentford in the summer of 2020, and he has since established himself as Villa's most successful centre forward of the Premier League era with 75 goals in the competition.
