Newcastle United's summer transfer window has been stepping up over the last few days, and there could be more business on the horizon.
United recently completed the signing of Anthony Elanga on a permanent deal from Nottingham Forest. Newcastle reached an agreement for a £55million transfer for the Sweden international to move to St James' Park as their first signing of the summer.
A host of players have been linked with joining Newcastle this summer, but some of those deals are no longer possible. Joao Pedro was mentioned as a target for the Magpies before he went on to leave Brighton in favour of a move to Chelsea instead.
In terms of potential new signings, the next few days could potentially see more new arrivals added to the squad. Whether that will happen, though, remains to be seen.
Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike is a target for Newcastle. Chronicle Live understands that the Magpies are calm about their summer transfer plans despite the links to Ekitike, with a move for the £86m centre forward likely to lead to an exit being needed.
Newcastle staged secret talks in Germany for Ekitike last week with Newcastle hoping for wiggle room on Frankfurt's. £86m asking price to take a final fee closer to around £70m with incentives.
Despite reports that Alexander Isak is catching admiring glances from Liverpool, Newcastle are adamant their star forward is not for sale and Ekitike is not being brought in as his replacement.
Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford is a target for Newcastle as the shot-stopper continues to seek a move to St James' Park. The two clubs have been in talks over a potential deal for some time, but an agreement is yet to be reached.
In terms of exits, Sean Longstaff appears set to finalise his departure. Leeds United have been given the green light to sign the midfielder, with the Chronicle reporting on Tuesday, July 15 that a deal has been agreed 'in principle' for the academy graduate.
Longstaff's sale will be able to be registered as 'pure profit' on the accounting books, meaning his impending departure could help Newcastle complete more incomings which can be amortised over the duration of any new signing's contract.
It could be a busy few days for Newcastle, but all three deals seemingly could potentially be wrapped up before the end of the week.
