Journalist is now hearing something different about Luis Diaz after Liverpool reject bid from Bayern Munich

Luis Diaz’s Liverpool future is something that seems to get brought up every other day.

The attacker only has two years left on his current deal at Anfield, and unless the Reds sell up this summer, they likely won’t get the fee they deserve for him.

The Colombia international was one of Arne Slot’s best attackers last season, but even with this in mind, it’d be better for Liverpool to earn some money from his sale, rather than losing him for nothing.

And, it’s clear that Bayern Munich are thinking this way too, as they made a £59million bid for Diaz on Tuesday, which was instantly rebuffed.

Now, however, a fresh update has been shared regarding the fee it would actually cost a club to prise Diaz away from Anfield this summer.

Ben Jacobs believes a fee worth £70m would be enough for Liverpool to sell Luis Diaz

As mentioned, Diaz’s Liverpool future has had a question mark hanging over it for as long as many can remember.

And now, as per a report from Ben Jacobs, it seems like a lower fee than the €100million (£86.7million) fee that was quoted on Tuesday would be enough to make Liverpool consider selling him.

The journalist shared that even though Bayern have been ‘repeatedly told’ that Liverpool don’t want to ‘engage’ in talks, that hasn’t stopped them from trying their luck.

Jacobs adds that the Colombia international is seen as an ‘important player’ and that bids over £70million are likely to be ‘considered’ on a ‘case-by-case’ basis.

This means that if a team from Saudi Arabia made a £70million+ bid, Liverpool would likely come to the table.

However, if a team such as Bayern or Barcelona came in with a bid around that mark, they’d likely have to pay more.

Liverpool should sell Luis Diaz if they’re not going to extend his stay

On the face of things, it’s clear to see why Liverpool and their fans don’t want to get rid of Diaz this summer.

The attacker had 25 goal contributions last season and was widely regarded as the Reds’ second-best attacker after Mohamed Salah.

However, if Liverpool aren’t going to offer him an extension to his stay or at least improved terms, it feels harsh for Slot to keep him around, even if he is an important cog in his plans.

At the moment, it’s anyone’s guess what could happen, but if Liverpool do end up signing Alexander Isak this summer, some sales will have to be made to recoup the money they’ve spent.

Only time will tell what the future has in store, but unless the Anfield outfit are going to offer Diaz some better terms, it feels harsh to force him into sticking around until the end of his deal.

That is, especially since Liverpool won’t receive any sort of fee for the attacker by the end of next term.
