**Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has now provided a key exit claim regarding one Liverpool player, with his move away this summer now believed to be off.**
A summer of huge change has already seen some high-profile departures take place at Anfield, not least Trent Alexander-Arnold joining Real Madrid.
There are expected to be more exits before the end of the summer transfer window, however, with doubts persisting over the futures of the likes of Harvey Elliott, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez.
When it comes to Nunez, he has been strongly backed to join Serie A champions Napoli this summer, with interest also emerging from Saudi Pro League clubs.
According to Romano on [_X_](https://x.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1945205252002574838), though, the Uruguayan now won’t be moving to Naples, with the rumoured transfer no longer on the cards:
_“Napoli have informed Liverpool tonight that Darwin Nunez deal can be considered off. Napoli will sign Lucca as new striker despite Nunez opening doors to the move, fee considered too high. Nunez, still expected to leave LFC this summer with Saudi clubs and more keen.”_
**A big-money Saudi move for Nunez instead?**
---------------------------------------------
Liverpool have made it fairly clear that Nunez doesn’t have a future at the club, so it’s now a case of him finding somewhere else to go, with this Napoli news a blow for him.
It could be that a Saudi club now come in with a big offer in the coming days and weeks, with the Reds no doubt hoping for an eye-watering bid.
Nunez has his positives as a footballer, from a good work ethic to pace and power, but Liverpool need to find a significant upgrade this summer, even though [Jurgen Klopp](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68507787) spoke positively about him during their time at Anfield:
_“He had absolutely more than an OK first season but he had to adapt, that’s done, and he is settled in the middle of the team,” added the German boss. He loves to play for this team together with these boys and has quality coming out of his ears, to be honest. Is he at his absolute peak in general? Not now for us. But can he develop? Yes. Is he a threat all the time? Yes.”_
Hopefully, more interest in Nunez emerges soon, allowing him to enjoy a fresh challenge in his career, as well as Liverpool getting him off their wage bill.
