Man City, United And Chelsea Are All Still Vying To Sign "Incredible" Goalkeeper Amid Contract Doubts

Manchester City remain in contention to sign Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, according to reports in France.

Newspaper L’Equipe (FCInterNews.it) claims that Pep Guardiola’s side, Manchester United and Chelsea are monitoring the Italian’s contract negotiations.

Donnarumma‘s current deal at PSG is set to expire at the end of next season. The keeper has expressed his desire to stay at the Parc des Princes but there is still no agreement about an extension.

It is felt that talks should now ramp up that the Club World Cup is over, but it is a situation to keep a close eye on.

Donnarumma’s form in 2025 has been excellent

Speaking after the second leg of the Champions League semi-final against Arsenal, PSG head coach Luis Enrique was fulsome in his praise of his number one:

“Donnarumma was fantastic, incredible. Just like in the first leg. He was fantastic. Our team is built to attack and defend far from goal, but when you have to defend, it’s important to have a keeper like him. Especially from set-pieces, he was fantastic.”

Many believe that Donnarumma will receive the Lev Yashin Trophy for the best goalkeeper at the end of the year.

Man City’s current first choice says he is not going anywhere

Many news outlets had reported that Ederson was likely to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer. The Brazilian international had been close to moving to Saudi Arabia last year before ultimately staying. Even so, there was still a feeling that he was open to a transfer.

However, during the Club World Cup, City’s number one declared he would not be moving clubs. If that is really the case, it would be a surprise if Pep Guardiola’s side made a concerted effort to sign Donnarumma.

In other news, Man City and Pep Guardiola have been criticised for selling a player who is now “worth £200m”
