Everton look set to finally add to their midfield after losing Abdoulaye Doucoure at the end of last season.

David Moyes is looking to ramp up the Toffees’ transfer business in the coming weeks, with a central midfielder a clear priority.

The Blues have a clear lack of depth in their squad, having also lost the likes of Ashley Young and Dominic Calvert-Lewin when their contracts expired at the end of June.

Now, with just weeks until the start of the Premier League season, Everton must add to their squad, with Douglas Luiz becoming a real option.

Everton to rival West Ham for Luiz

Luiz has been on Moyes’ radar for weeks now.

The Brazilian has attracted interest from several English clubs so far this summer, after his unsuccessful switch to Juventus.

Luiz’s last two Premier League seasons at Villa

The two clubs have enquired about Luiz’s situation and have been in discussions with the 27-year-old.

Luiz made the switch to Turin a year ago but hasn’t found his feet in Italy and has been told that he isn’t part of Juventus’ plans next season.

It is said that agents are moving quickly to find a solution, with the Brazilian now up for sale.

Moyes seemingly has backup options should the move not materialise, with Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney someone who has been regularly linked.

Luiz would boost Everton to another level

Luiz would help Everton challenge at the right end of the table.

The Goodison faithful may be worried by his dip in form in Italy, but fans have seen before how Italian teams can damage a player when he is at his best.

The Brazilian was immense for Aston Villa in the Premier League and has shown that he can do it all.

Luiz is valued at around £35million in Turin, and Moyes must push for Luiz, who would flip Everton’s underwhelming transfer window on its head.
