Leeds United have agreed personal terms with Hoffenheim midfielder Anton Stach. That is according to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg as the Whites look to increase their options in the middle of the park ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Plettenberg says United are in negotiations with the Bundesliga club over the signing of Stach but no agreement has yet to be reached. He adds that Hoffenheim have received several enquiries for Stach, not just from the Whites, and want around €20m plus add-ons on for the German international. The 26-year-old, primarily a defensive midfielder, still has two years left to run on his Hoffenheim deal.
Stach, who can also be utilised at centre-back, boasts a wealth of experience, having racked up 122 Bundesliga appearances in his career. He has weighed in with five goals and 16 assists for clubs such as Mainz 05 and Hoffenheim.
The development in United's pursuit of Stach comes off the back of the Premier League newcomers reaching an agreement in principle to sign Sean Longstaff from Newcastle United. It is thought the Whites will pay an upfront fee of £12m for the central midfielder alongside a further £3m in add-ons.
Longstaff, who progressed through the ranks at St James' Park, has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Newcastle. His last top flight start came back in December. The 27-year-old has predominantly been used as a central midfielder by the Magpies, with some variation between defensive and attacking duties.
