Micah Parsons knows what it takes to be great.
The former Harrisburg High, Penn State and current Dallas Cowboys star has made it to the mountain top in the hyper-competitive world of the NFL, and he spent Tuesday morning sharing some wisdom about what it takes to get there with a group of hungry high school and college players.
The few dozen fortunate listeners had just completed a grueling hour-long hillside workout in Harrisburg’s Reservoir Park alongside the three-time All-Pro and four-time Pro Bowler. The session began at 7:00 a.m. under the direction of trainer Lance Deane.
An exhausted Parsons pulled himself up from the ground and knelt in front of the group to deliver his message about commitment and dedication.
“I haven’t even reached my best self yet because I was cheating myself for a long time,” Parsons stated. “You got to make a decision early and that decision got to be made up in your head and you got to stick with it.”
“Half of you all bro, to be real, football may not be your plan, but your habits, the habits you build now are going to build you for life. Character and circumstances don’t change you...but if you’re giving up, you taking reps off, you going to take reps off at your job, you’re going to take days off. How you build yourself now is going to carry you for life.”
