Fabrizio Romano shares fresh Gyokeres to Arsenal update this morning as deal agreed reports…

Arsenal remain calm and optimistic in their pursuit of Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres, with talks ongoing as they negotiate the add-ons of the deal, according to Fabrizio Romano, writing in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter.

David Ornstein reported last week that Arsenal had reached an agreement in principle to sign Gyokeres from Sporting CP for a fee of around £64m, but we're yet to see the deal go to the next step. The Swedish striker has failed to turn up to pre-season training at the Portuguese club, with Sporting CP president Frederico Varandas insisting that Gyokeres will be fined for his behaviour. Reports even emerged from Spain this week that a deal has now been agreed, with a medical set to take place on Friday.

Attention for the Gunners has now turned to bringing in attacking options after an impressive start to the transfer window. Christian Norgaard, Martin Zubimendi, and Kepa Arrizabalaga are among those who have already signed on the dotted line, and Arsenal are now looking to bring in reinforcements further forward.

Considering Gyokeres' insistence on a move taking place, it feels as though Arsenal should be able to get this one done. Gyokeres' agent has even waived his fee in order to try and get a deal over the line, perhaps due to the Swedish striker being so desperate to secure a move to the Gunners this summer.

Talks remain ongoing between Sporting and Arsenal despite an agreement in principle being reached, and Arsenal could be heading into the 2025/2026 campaign with a new striker.
