Report: Chelsea waiting for green light to trigger £65m Arsenal target’s release clause after talks yesterday

It’s already been a busy summer transfer window for Chelsea with several incomings, but it sounds like there could still be more potential arrivals at Stamford Bridge.

The trend across recent summers is that the Blues are very active trying to mould their squad.

Chelsea are discussing a couple more signings after winning the Club World Cup, where new signings Joao Pedro and Liam Delap played key roles.

Alan Shearer thinks Chelsea can challenge for the Premier League with the momentum that is building under Enzo Maresca, winning both the Conference League and Club World Cup during his first season in charge.

Chelsea speak with Eberechi Eze’s agents

Journalist Simon Phillips reports via Substack that Chelsea held new talks yesterday (Tuesday) with the agents of Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze.

It is explained that the Blues are yet to make contact with Palace yet because they are seeing if the 27-year-old attacking midfielder wants to join them.

Phillips adds that Eze has a release clause worth £65m in his contract at Selhurst Park. Enzo Maresca’s side are holding off triggering it as they want to learn the player’s preference before advancing any further.

Back in May, reports claimed that Eze is universally liked at Chelsea, and they are eyeing a potential move for the Palace and England star this summer.

It certainly feels like the attacking midfielder, who usually plays as a No.10 or a left-winger, is ready to take the next leap in his career to an elite club.

Eberechi Eze is an Arsenal target

Palace star Eze, 27, has been strongly linked with Arsenal in the transfer rumour mill this summer.

FootballTransfers claimed a week ago that Arsenal plan to hold discussions with London rivals Palace about signing Eze. In addition, the player himself is keen on a move to the Emirates Stadium to play in Mikel Arteta’s side.

Meanwhile, The Sun reported that Germany heavyweights Bayern Munich could compete with Arsenal for Eze’s signature.

It looks like the Palace talisman has the pick of several Champions League clubs to join this summer, but where will the skilful playmaker end up by the start of next season?
