'Loads' - Bruno Fernandes makes Darren Fletcher admission after Manchester United job change

Man United, earlier this week, confirmed they had appointed Darren Fletcher as the Under-18s' new boss.

Captain Bruno Fernandes is backing Darren Fletcher to bring "loads of success" to Manchester United's youth system after being appointed as the club's Under-18s lead coach.

United confirmed Fletcher had succeeded Adam Lawrence as Under-18s chief on Monday. Lawrence left the club earlier this summer to explore a new chapter in his career elsewhere.

The 41-year-old Scot has immediately stepped into the breach and is overseeing the Under-18s' pre-season preparations.

He has been a link between the first-team and the academy in recent years, recommending which youngsters were suitable for first-team training.

A United academy graduate himself, Fletcher will be an excellent role model for United's next wave of emerging talent.

On Tuesday, United released their latest Lifeblood film, revealing footage of Fletcher speaking to United's new intake of scholars. Providing them with no shortage of knowledge and uplifting insight, the former midfielder's speech earned plaudits from Fernandes.

Sharing his speech on his Instagram story, Fernandes said of Fletcher: "Top class as a person and a well-deserved new role that suits him and will bring loads of success to the youth of the club."

On being installed as Under-18s boss, Fletcher said: "I am really excited to take on this new role and increase my responsibility to directly develop our young players.

"I'm looking forward to working with such a talented age-group; supporting them to reach their potential and preparing them to enjoy careers at the highest level possible."

Fletcher, who made more than 340 appearances for United during his career, returned to the club in a coaching capacity in 2021.
