Liverpool are not willing to part ways with Luis Diaz at any price this summer and have already rejected a £58.6m opening offer from Bayern Munich.

Arne Slot does not want to lose a high-quality player such as Diaz, who played an instrumental role for the Reds as they clinched their 20th league title last season.

The 28-year-old netted 22 goals for club and country last term, with 13 of those in the Premier League. His contract is set to expire in the summer of 2027.

Liverpool are yet to open talks with Diaz over a new deal. He attracted interest from Manchester City last summer, and also has admirers in Saudi Arabia.

Barcelona are also interested in signing the Colombia international.

“I’m very happy at Liverpool – I’ve always said so,” said Diaz when on international duty earlier this summer.

“The transfer market is opening, and we’re trying to arrange what’s best for us. I’m waiting to see what happens.

“If Liverpool give us a good extension or I have to see out my two-year contract, I’ll be happy. It all depends on them. I’m here to decide and see what’s best for us and the future.”

Bayern Munich are not ready to give up on Diaz this summer.

According to Sport Bild via @iMiaSanMia, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany has already spoken to Diaz, and the forward has agreed to join them. However, the Bundesliga champions need to agree a fee with Liverpool.

“Vincent Kompany has had a video call with Luis Díaz. The Colombian said ‘yes’ to Bayern and informed Liverpool of his desire,” the report said.

“Liverpool have already been aware a few months ago of Diaz’s desire to leave. Now the clubs have to agree a fee. Within Bayern, important figures support the transfer.

“He’s not seen as a transfer for the future, but one that immediately makes the team better and helps them compete at a higher level with his quality and international experience.”
