Barcelona just can not seem to catch a break when it comes to Bayern Munich’s transfer moves.
This time, according to Mundo Deportivo, the German giants are leaving no stone unturned in their bid to sign Liverpool star Luis Diaz, a player also high on Barça’s radar this summer.
Bayern Munich have taken their approach one step further by making things personal. Vincent Kompany, their manager, reportedly held a direct video call with Diaz to explain his project and plans for the future.
Diaz is impressed
The Colombian winger is said to have responded positively to the conversation, expressing interest in joining Bayern. However, the situation is far from straightforward as there’s still no agreement with Liverpool, who are in no rush to sell.
From Barcelona’s side, there’s confidence as well. The Blaugrana also believe they have received the green light from Diaz, who dreams of wearing the Barça shirt.

But there is a catch. This is not about loyalty to one club over another. For Diaz, this is the most important contract of his career, and he is carefully weighing up all options with a focus on his financial security.
Liverpool not giving up
At the heart of the issue is Liverpool’s stance. The Premier League side have made it clear that they won’t let Luis Diaz go cheaply.
The initial asking price was around €80 million, but recent reports suggest they’ve now raised the figure to €100 million, knowing that his contract runs until 2027.
Interestingly, it must be noted that Liverpool have already rejected Bayern Munich’s first bid of €67.5 million.
For Diaz, staying at Liverpool remains an option, but only if his salary is improved. He is happy at Anfield, but he also knows he is at a stage in his career where he needs to secure a contract that reflects his value.
His heart leans towards Barcelona, but he is not willing to make sacrifices at any cost. From a professional perspective, Bayern Munich’s offer also holds serious weight, given their status as one of the world’s biggest clubs.
