Thank Bode for locking in the Nike Astrograbber for good

Nike Astrograbber

Last autumn, Bode dove straight into the Swoosh's archives to revive the Nike Astrograbber. First introduced in '74, this silhouette was designed by Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman back in the days of yore, and it was one of the first American football shoes to feature the (then) new waffle sole.

To no one's surprise, it sold out within seconds of releasing. The Emily Adams Bode Aujla-helmed label then followed it up with more colourways earlier this year. But if you (like pretty much everyone else) didn't manage to grab them, it's your lucky day: the Astrograbber is back, baby – and it's back for good.

For its first non-collab drop in over 50 years, the Astrograbber is returning in two colour combos, including the ‘Aluminum’ and the ‘Soft Yellow.’ The first pair is dipped in baby blue, while the second comes in a, well… soft yellow. Crafted from nubuck, it's overlaid by leather panels across the lacing system and heel badge, while mesh hits the tongue and ankle for extra comfort and support.

A giant Swoosh is slapped on the lateral and medial sidewalls, and just like the OG, the midsole features the hallowed waffle design that hasn't really changed at all over the past five decades. Made from super lightweight and flexible rubber, it's apparently a lot grippier compared to a lot of other midsoles out there.

Sure, the Astrograbber doesn't have carbon plating or hidden stash pockets or Tabi toes, but it's not that type of boy. It's a nice and normal sneaker made for nice and normal sneakerheads. And if for whatever reason you needed any more convincing, Jeremy Allen White (who usually wears nothing but the Cortez) has a pair of these in his collection.

The Nike Astrograbber ‘Aluminum’ and ‘Soft Yellow’ are set to drop on July 25 at Nike, the Snkrs app, and select stockists globally for about £120 each.
