Alexander Isak’s future at Newcastle United is coming under increasing speculation after Liverpool made their opening move to sign him during this summer’s transfer window.
Liverpool have made an approach for Isak, who still has three years to go on his contract at Newcastle United.
Isak has confirmed he’s happy at Newcastle, but it remains to be seen if a potential move to the Premier League champions this summer would change his stance.
Indeed, Newcastle do not want to sell Isak and are under no immediate financial pressure to do so at this stage.
The club hold the cards here, though much will depend on Isak. If he pushes for a move away – and there is no suggestion he will – then perhaps the situation could change.
While the striker has talked about how happy he is at St James’ Park, there is believed to be some disappointment behind the scenes.

Alexander Isak disappointed at broken contract promise
According to Craig Hope of The Daily Mail on social media platform X, Newcastle are braced for a formal offer from Liverpool.
Still, they are likely to offer Isak improved terms on his current deal, which is thought to be worth in the region of £120k-per-week.

He thought the promise of a new deal made by former co-owners Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi was not honoured.
Former sporting director Paul Mitchell, meanwhile, thought he was already well paid enough and the fact he still had four years to run at the time meant it was not a pressing situation to look at.
What Newcastle United already know about Alexander Isak’s potential salary at Liverpool
Newcastle are aware that Isak could earn much more money at Liverpool, which is a blow.
Indeed, while Newcastle want to make Isak their highest-paid player, the money on offer at Anfield will likely be much more than what the Magpies can pay him.
Player Wages
Bruno Guimaraes £160k-per-week
Anthony Gordon £150k-per-week
Joelinton £150k-per-week
Alexander Isak £120k-per-week
Sandro Tonali £120k-per-week
Kieran Trippier £120k-per-week

With that in mind, it’s hard to see him staying at Newcastle forever. There are clubs who can pay him more, and that is a difficult hurdle to overcome.
Still, it doesn’t mean he will leave this summer. He’s got three years on his contract and, as mentioned above, Newcastle do not need to sell their best players right now.
One more year of Isak at Newcastle does not feel out of the question.
