Reports linking Manchester City midfielder İlkay Gündoğan with a sensational transfer to Turkish Süper Lig champions Galatasaray have been directly refuted by the player’s agent.
Speculation had intensified that the German international could be on his way out of the Etihad Stadium to help fund City’s ongoing squad rebuild.
Turkish outlet Beinsports.tr had claimed that Gündoğan had reportedly agreed to join Galatasaray, with an announcement imminent and a proposed salary of up to €6 million (£5 million/$6.9 million) per season.
Gündoğan had only returned to City last summer after a year-long spell at Barcelona.

However, Gündoğan’s representative expressed surprise at the swirling transfer rumors and firmly denied any agreement or ongoing official talks with any Turkish club.
“At the moment, there is no agreement with any club in Turkey or any official talks going on,” the agent told reporters. “I find it difficult to understand why such news is coming out.”
The 34-year-old midfielder made 54 appearances across all competitions for Manchester City during the 2024-25 campaign.
His current contract runs until 2026, and as of now, he is scheduled to report back for City’s pre-season training next month. The Cityzens are set to play a friendly against sister club Palermo on August 9.
