Man United Have‘Held Talks’With Premier League Star Who Has Already Handed In Transfer Request

Manchester United have been in contact with Pervis Estupinan’s representatives, according to reports.

Radio station TalkSPORT claim the Red Devils have “held talks” with the Brighton left-back ahead of a prospective move to Old Trafford.

Estupinan does have other suitors, including AC Milan, but his sale is expected to be sanctioned by the Seagulls this summer.

The 27-year-old has spent the last three years at the Amex Stadium, having signed from Villarreal in the summer of 2022.

Estupinan has confirmed that he wants a transfer

Speaking last month, the Ecuadorian international effectively stated that he had handed in a transfer request:

“The truth is they have been three years in Brighton with a lot of learning, but this will be a transfer market with a lot of movement. The club know that I would like to grow, that I would like to keep growing. The club have understood this.”

“I’ve spoken to the club. The club have given me this bit of freedom to be able to make a decision. Now we will try to see better what is on the table and to see where we can go.”

Brighton have not hung around in finding a replacement. They signed Maxim De Cuyper from Club Brugge earlier this month.

Why do Man United want another left-back?

Fans would be justified in asking why Estupinan is a target, considering head coach Ruben Amorim already has Patrick Dorgu, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia at his disposal.

However, Shaw’s injury record means he can’t be relied upon to stay fit, while Malacia has been deemed surplus requirements and will be offloaded if a suitor can be found.

Dorgu is also relatively inexperienced, and he struggled after arriving from Lecce in January, so Estupinan would provide Amorim with an alternative who could take on some of the workload.
