FC Barcelona are reportedly still engaged in their pursuit of a new left-winger this summer. For the Catalan club, that has been one of their primary objectives for this transfer window. However, Barcelona have had very poor luck when it comes to their actual operations.
The most prominent target for much of the summer so far was Athletic Club winger Nico Williams. Despite initially looking like a promising operation, it ultimately ended up amounting to nothing as the player renewed his contract with his current club.
However, other targets still remain in the picture and it is now up to Barcelona to judge how to approach them. One such target is Liverpool winger Luis Diaz, and despite the Catalan club’s lack of a proper advance for him so far, a reliable source now confirms that he remains in their plans as a top target.
Barcelona to try again for Luis Diaz

As highlighted by Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona is actively in contact with the player’s agents and that the club plans to make another move for the Colombian forward following their previous rejection. However, they will likely have to compete with German side Bayern Munich, considering that the Bavarians are also headed in the same direction.
Previously, as per Romano, both clubs have had their respective approaches rejected by Liverpool at some point. Bayern’s rejection was more recent, and it involved a formal proposal that was ultimately rejected by the English side.
Other offers and matters to address

As for Barcelona, the journalist claims that they had an approach rejected back in June. Either way, it seems likely that Liverpool will make Diaz’s departure difficult despite the player being open to a move and having reportedly even held talks with both clubs.
For now, Barça seems to be treating Diaz as their priority target. However, there are still some internal matters to resolve within the club and potential offers to assess as well in order to generate some much-needed revenue, and Fermin Lopez in particular seems to attracting a lot of interest and attention.
