Report: Premier League ace has decided whether he wants to join Everton or Leeds United, £12m bid imminent

Everton and Leeds United seem to be linked with a number of the same transfer targets this summer. One of them is Tomas Soucek at West Ham.

Leeds United are returning to the Premier League after a two-year hiatus, after Daniel Farke steered the Whites to the Championship title last season.

And already the club have made four new signings, with a fifth expected to arrive at Elland Road very soon after Leeds United agreed a deal to sign Sean Longstaff from Newcastle United.

A sixth could be just around the corner too. On Wednesday, reports revealed that Leeds United have agreed personal terms with Anton Stach at Hoffenheim, in a deal that could cost the Whites up to £17million.

Another midfield signing can’t be ruled out despite the pending arrivals of Longstaff and Stach. And the next potential midfield signing could well be Tomas Soucek.

Tomas Soucek has decided between Everton and Leeds United

This summer, Leeds United have been linked with Soucek at West Ham. The Czech midfielder has also been linked with Everton where former Hammers boss David Moyes is in charge, and TeamTalk are reporting that the 30-year-old Soucek could be headed to Merseyside for a reunion with Moyes this summer.

Their report writes that ‘a bid from Everton is now believed to be imminent’, and in the region of £12million, though a concrete deal for Soucek to head to Everton this summer is not thought to be close to completion at this moment in time.

TeamTalk also add that Leeds United ‘have explored a deal’ for Soucek this summer, though the player’s ‘preference is clear’, he wants to join Everton should he have to leave West Ham this summer.

Why Tomas Soucek may not have made his mind up just yet

The above report comes just one day after Soucek gave an interview with West Ham on their official club website, in which he made no suggestions that he wants to leave the club this summer.

Instead, Soucek spoke about wanting to be a leader for the club’s younger players and then about Graham Potter. Soucek said: “I want to improve myself and be the heart of the team in a positive way, and want to guide us to good performances as a team and individuals.

“I really believe the head coach wants to get the best from us and really wants to make the team become one group, and now we have to show the quality of the individual players we have.”

So whether or not Soucek really does want to leave, and whether he really does want a move to Everton this summer, certainly remains up in the air. But at just £12million, he’d be a real coup for whoever managed to sign him, given his record of goals in the Premier League whilst at West Ham.

Leeds United have a £150million transfer budget but that’s steadily starting to dwindle with the signings of Jaka Bijol, Sebastiaan Bornauw, and Gabriel Gudmundsson, and with the £15million deal to sign Longstaff too.
