Report: 'Monster' Liverpool ace rejects chance to make lucrative move as his stance is made clear

Liverpool have had a whole host of their first-team squad linked with an exit this summer.

The Anfield outfit are undergoing a major rebuild with Arne Slot and Richard Hughes already making a massive dent in their transfer warchest.

However, with there being just under two months still left of the transfer window, there’s still plenty more deals that can be made.

And, if Liverpool want to be a part of any discussions for potential moves this summer, they’re going to have to look for players to sell, with one of Slot’s first-team squad already making his stance clear.

Ibrahima Konate has rejected a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia

Ibrahima Konate is a player that most Liverpool fans will likely want to keep around for the foreseeable future.

However, now that he’s entered the final year of his contract at Anfield, interest in the Frenchman has stepped up massively, with Real Madrid leading the transfer charge.

However, as per a report from the Daily Mirror, Konate has ‘rebuffed’ the chance of making a lucrative move to the Saudi Pro League.

The unnamed club contacted the Frenchman to ‘register an interest’ in acquiring his services this summer.

However, Konate chose against sitting down at the ‘negotiating table’ with the club as he wants to continue competing at the ‘highest level.’

Liverpool must stand strong and try to keep Ibrahima Konate at Anfield

There’s no denying that Konate’s partnership with Virgil van Dijk is rather formidable.

The duo are two of the best centre-backs in the Premier League, and the fact that the Frenchman could end up leaving as a free agent is nothing short of a travesty.

Konate is still only 26 years old, and with Van Dijk now only having two years left on his deal, he’s likely to become the Reds’ most trusted centre-back in the future.

The Frenchman was once described as a “monster” due to the performances he put in last season, and to be honest, that’s exactly what he is.

Only time will tell whether Konate will stay on at Liverpool, but with the recent interest that Real Madrid have shown in him, it’ll certainly be a tough task for all those involved.
