Although the 24-year-old point guard didn’t get many opportunities to showcase his skills in the NBA—appearing in just 22 games and averaging 1.6 points and 0.9 assists in around 4 minutes per game—he now has another chance to prove himself to the American market in the Summer League with the Chicago Bulls.
During the Summer League, Kawamura spoke to Damichael Cole of the Memphis Commercial Appeal, expressing that he already misses Memphis and had hoped to play there this upcoming season.
"I miss Memphis, for sure," Kawamura said. "Memphis people are so nice. I wanted to play in Memphis this year too, but it’s business. I’m satisfied right now. The Bulls organization is great. It’s a good opportunity for me."
The 5-foot-8 (172 cm) Kawamura is putting together a solid performance in this year's NBA Summer League with the Bulls, averaging 7.3 points and 5.7 assists in 23 minutes per game.
